What a date today is, did you notice 9/11, it rings a bell right? RIP to those that lost their lives in that baberic crash. God bless Africa, God bless America and other continents of the world!
In our last edition, we talked about the benefits of water in your daily healthy living.
Today, we 'll be looking closely at some various chronic disease that may be avoided if we change our life style and nutritional habit, based on the World Health Organization that states, by the year 2020, many Nigerians will be down with some chronic diseases e.g Diabetes Mellitus, Obesity, Cancer e.t.c Therefore, today we want to briefely look at "CANCER" and life style change to avoid it.
Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body.
Tobaco use is the cause of 22% of Cancer deaths (Research). Another 10% is due to Obesity, a poor diet, lack of physical activity, and consumption of alcohol. While other factors include certain infection, exposure to 'ionizing radiation, environmental pollutant e.g Hepatitis B and C, and genetic defects inherited from person's parent.
Cancer Preventions
Many Cancer can be prevented by;
-Not smoking,
- Maintaning a healthy weight,
- Not drinking too much alcohol
- Eating plenty Vegetables, fruits and Whole grains (e.g, Ofada rice, Soya milk/Beans and Wheat meal)
- Being vacinated against certain infecteous diseases
- Not eating too much processed red meat and
- Avoiding too much exposure to sunlight.

Good day friends, happy to know you are doing great in your health, you can even improve your health a lot better by taking enough water daily. Healthy living is all about lifestyle and it is not easy to change your life style, except when you are forced due to serious medical attention; But why do you need to wait till you have serious medical complications before you put up a healthy lifestyle?
Welcome to "THE AMBASSADORS TODAY" Today we will talk about ''Water in Nutrition" enjoy! Rest, Exercise and diet is in your daily healthy living, so is water drinking as lack of it may lead to Dehydration.
Getting enough water everyday is important for your health. Healthy people meet their fluid needs by drinking when thirsty and drinking with meals. Most of your fluid needs are met through the water and beverages you drink. However, you can get some fluids through the foods that you eat. (Centre for disease control. CDC)
Fact about water
- your body is about 60% of water
-your muscles are about 75% of water
- the brain is about 75% of water
-your blood is approximately 82% of water
-your bones are 25% of water
An average human should take not less than 3ouns (4 litre) of water daily (10 sachet of water) especially in hurt seasons, in order to avoid dehydration. Please it must be noted that, you can survive without food for 40 days, but you may not survive without water for 3days, so when you are on fasting, please take water at intervals, in order to keep you hydrated
Importance of water in the body
- Water keep your body hydrated
-Protect your spinal cord
-Water washes/flush out unwanted elements in your body through urine
- Water improves your health and aid easy blood flow
Water is live, so to remain 'Alive' ( In health) we must take enough water, even though we don't feel like. However, we must also be conscious of the water we take, the water must be clean, as otherwise may result in cholera, typhoid etc. Also your react to water, which may cause you to feel sick when there is a change of water; for example, if you drink boiled water at home, but when you get to school, you drink ordinary tap water, it may take time for your body to adjust to this change. It is advisable you take clean sealed water or use water gourd.

More on Fruits: Health Benefits of Watermelon.
Hello friends, how have you been and your health? I bid happy new Month. Welcome to another edition of The Ambassadors Today.
Today will be dwelling on; THE HEALTH BENEFIT OF WATERMELON.
Watermelon is a vine-like flowering plant originally from South Africa. Despite popular belief that watermelon is actually considered a nutrient dense food, a food that provides a high amount of vitamins, minerals and anti oxidants for a low amount of calories.
Health Benefit
Consuming fruits and vegetables of all kinds has long been associated with reduced risk of many lifestyle-related health conditions. Many studies have suggested that increasing consumption of plant food like watermelon decreases the risk of Obesity and overall mortality, Diabetes, heart diseases and promote a healthy complexion and hair, increased energy, overall lower weight.
Watermelon is high in lycopene:( Important for bone health), Vitamin C, Potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6, Magnesium and Potassium.
Watermelon seed contain some level of protein ( 1 gram of protein per 24 seeds)
It contains 92% of water, thereby guiding against dehydration.
You can eat every part of watermelon, the Pink part, the seed and even the white and back. It all rich in calcium needed for your bone health. If you notice unusual pain anywhere in your body, it might be a pointer to low calcium in the bone.
